The energy produced will meet the demands of V.tal’s buildings and the current and future data center network of Tecto Data Centers, a subsidiary of the company, across the country.

Ten solar plants located in the states of Minas Gerais and Pernambuco will collectively achieve a capacity of 947 GWh/year.

São Paulo, November 21, 2024 – V.tal, the largest neutral digital infrastructure company in Latin America, has signed a long-term contract with Atlas Renewable Energy and Atiaia Renováveis for the self-production of 100% renewable electricity to support its operations in Brazil.

The agreements will result in the generation of 710 GWh/year from Atlas’s Draco Solar Complex, located in Arinos (MG), and 237 GWh/year from Atiaia’s Agreste Solar Complex, located in Tacaimbó (PE). All the plants will be solar-powered and are scheduled to begin operations in 2026.

The energy produced will supply the demands of V.tal’s buildings, which are distributed across all regions of Brazil, as well as the three Tecto data centers currently operating in Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. This includes the Mega Lobster, a large-scale data center under construction in Fortaleza (CE). Additionally, it will support new developments aligned with Tecto’s expansion plan, which involves an initial investment of $1 billion.

“V.tal is currently the largest digital infrastructure company in Brazil, making it a significant energy consumer to operate this extensive and highly interconnected platform. The decision to self-produce 100% renewable energy is strategic, as it not only aligns with our sustainability commitment—a core pillar for both V.tal and Tecto Data Centers—but also meets the needs of our clients. They are focused on pursuing more efficient and sustainable business solutions, converging toward an integrated ESG and economic growth vision. This is especially crucial in the data center sector, which is a critical enabler in the current landscape of AI and high-volume data processing,” says Bruno Giovenazzi, CFO of V.tal and Tecto Data Centers.

The energy generated by these plants will help prevent the emission of over 4 million tons of CO2 between 2026 and 2041. Additionally, the projects are expected to significantly contribute to local economic development during the construction and operation phases.
