V.tal was born as a neutral network company, created from the structural separation of Oi’s fiber infrastructure assets. The new company provides FTTH (Fiber To The Home) solutions and wholesale connectivity services for telecommunications operators and internet providers.
The transfer of control to GlobeNet and BTG Pactual’s investment funds is completed. BTG Pactual assumed V.tal’s management and control responsibilities.
The integration of GlobeNet into V.tal results in a digital infrastructure company serving telecom operators, internet providers, content, and cloud markets. Together, they operate more than 450,000 kilometers of terrestrial fiber optic in Brazil, connecting to over 26,000 kilometers of submarine cables linking Brazil to Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Bermuda, and the United States, as well as data centers distributed between Brazil and Colombia.
V.tal opens its second edge data center in Fortaleza, CE, called Big Lobster, which will operate with a capacity of 4MW and space for up to 400 racks. It is fully integrated with its submarine cable landing station (CLS) and houses the PIX (Point of Interconnection).
V.tal acquires land in Fortaleza (CE) for the construction of a new hyperscale data center in the city. Named Mega Lobster, the new facility will be fully integrated with the submarine cable landing station and the company’s Big Lobster data center, located at Praia do Futuro.
V.tal unveils plans for another data center, the company’s first in the southern region of the country. The new facility will have a total power capacity of 6MW and support for 400 racks in an area of 7,000 m².
V.tal opens its second data center in Barranquilla, Colombia. Named BDC2, the new facility has a total power capacity of 3MW and space for up to 200 racks. BDC2 is integrated with the edge data center BDC1, which houses the PIT (Point of Interconnection) and the Cable Landing Station.
